Choosing
the right kinds of winter clothing is important and somewhat meticulous for
those of us who have shifted to colder regions. Different kinds of weather
conditions require different kinds of men’s clothing. Most of us tend to stuff
our closet with fluffy clothes like pullovers, sweaters, heavy jackets, and
coats. We tend to forget that we might require lighter clothes for
trans-seasonal usage. Sometimes when winter is just around the corner, men may
not need to hide under heavy warm clothing immediately. These times require
lighter materials of clothing.
Dress yourself in layers of clothing: The number of layers you need to
clothe in depends on how cold the weather is. The extent of the cold should
decide how many layers of clothing you require. For a mild cold, it is
sufficient to just wear a light sweater, vest or cardigan over a shirt. For
colder climates, wear a jacket or coat over the shirt. This would be great even
for formal occasions. If the weather is extremely cold, you may wear multiple
clothing layers. Thermal wear for men may
be worn under garment layers comprising shirt, sweater, jacket and overcoat.
Thermal clothing provides a lot of insulation and you may not need to layer
yourself much if you have a thermal suit or shirt.
Keep the lower parts of the body warm: You may dress yourself in layers,
but when it comes to leggings, you cannot really wear those in layers. Twill
fabric, weighted denim, corduroy and other solid fabrics are recommended when
you choose your bottom wear. Pants made of solid fabrics help to keep your
whole body warm and comfortable. Watch out for flannel linings in your winter
bottom wear. Layers, even if they are thin, help to protect you better from the
cold. Cotton socks are a must have for winters. Without these, you cannot be
completely insulated from cold.
Accessorize properly: For total protection from cold, you
must take care not to leave space in your warm clothes for the air to get in.
Sometimes, covering yourself becomes necessary right from the head to your toe.
Socks, mittens, gloves, scarves, mufflers, and hats are accessories that should
be worn for this purpose. These will keep your feet, hand, neck, and ears
guarded from the cold. Hats are worn so as to trap your body heat and prevent
it from getting out of the ears.
Keep
these essentials in mind while selecting your winter wardrobe this year!
